While the UK government has yet to adopt the Italian policy of suspending mortgage payments this is still a possibility. This then prompt the question, who will pay rent arrears in the UK to private landlords? If, as is certainly possible, the UK does also decide to suspend mortgage payments then, for many, rent arrears will to all intents and purposes balance out mortgage liabilities. However, for those without mortgage liabilities where do they stand?
