We are about 10 weeks away from moving to our "new" home in Lagos. When we agreed to buy said home , the vendor asked for payment in sterling, which sounded good(avoiding any conversion charge),but sterling wire arrived to our lowers "sterling" account about 3weeks later. The euro wire for fees was immediate. As we will have sold our home, watched our furniture leave on the lorry and followed it in our car, after sending the balances in euro for fees and STIRLING for property balance. We anticipate being homeless for an indeterminate time . Is this normal for sterling transactions, and can anyone suggest a more expedient way? Or do we just book a hotel and wait?,
Thanks
Lane

Although not well publicized, many banks here will let you hold a sterling account.
A transfer should take no more than 5 days. Make sure you have the full bank details including the swift code when you make the transfer
Perhaps if you are transferring to your own account you will know exactly when it arrives?
Thanks
Desmond
