Renovating a House - Which Insurance

Hi

I am just about to buy my 2nd property for renovating and am unsure where to go for insurance.

Just after minimum but want to make sure it's insured against theft and more importantly I'm insured against workmen coming on site.

My last house I nearly had the plasterer make a claim against me as he fell down an open floorboard and was off work for a few days.

Many Thanks
Donna

This is not really something I had considered before - I presume your general household insurance did not offer any cover. This begs the question, when domestic homeowners employ the services of tradespeople where do they stand in the event of an accident?

I would be interested to hear more about this. While I appreciate there is potential liability on the property owner if it is not in good shape/safe but how does this all stand up legally?.

Are we talking a big jump in premiums compared to standard insurance premiums?
