Best form of incorporation for REI

Hi, I am a newbie to real-estate and I would like to get some advice from experienced investors. What is the best form of incorporation for a Canadian resident to start a real-estate investment business in the US?

All I heard was that it is some sort of a combination of a Canadian and a US company. Maybe a Canadian company owning a US company?

All suggestions are welcome. (Obviously I am going to discuss this with my lawyer but I like to do my own research too.)
