Makes sense? Use the millions of pounds which institutions invest into research as a means of identifying property markets with good long-term potential. However, you must always do your own research and fully understand what you are getting yourself into.

Why reinvent the wheel when you don't have to? You will need to find out what kind of timescale certain institutional investors have for particular assets but if it is good enough for them then it should be good enough for you.

The majority of investment funds will publish an annual report which will detail their portfolio, income, profit and loss. However, perhaps more importantly, they will have a forward view of the market and areas in which the fund managers believe there is value. If you read a few of these annual reports, and start to see a trend emerging, perhaps it is worth doing your own research and looking to invest in these areas?
