Eurythmics Dave Stewart selling his Hollywood style mansion

His former bandmate Annie Lennox once famously wrote a song about Dave Stewart which was a smash hit. It seems as though Dave Stewart has a passion for luxury real estate amid news that he is selling his Hollywood style mansion in Toluca Lake community in Los Angeles. The property is priced at $5.65 million and with it comes a history littered with Hollywood superstars of the past.

Former owners

It is believed that silent screen star Howard Hughes and his fiancee lived in the property, as did Wizard of Oz costume designer Adrian and his wife not to mention Janet Gaynor, the first actress to receive an Oscar back in 1929. This is some list of former occupants and it is highly unlikely that Dave Stewart will have any difficulty shifting this particular property.

What do you get for $5.65 million?

The property itself is described as a “Spanish colonial revival style micro compound” which in layman’s terms means it has a Spanish theme and its own grounds. The property itself has four fireplaces, three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms (yes you read that right) all within two floors and 442 m². It is believed the house has been updated over the years but still retains the original characteristics and the charm which created the Who’s Who’s list of Hollywood.

Library den

As you enter the property you will come across what has been affectionately referred to as a “library den” with old style recliners, bookcases built into the walls with an old-fashioned ambience. This will be the perfect room in which to put up your feet, catch up with the latest news or read a book in quiet.

Luxury living room

The promotional pictures of the extremely spacious living room show a number of guitars and a piano reflecting the musical interests of the man himself. The medium brown timber flooring and chunky beams on the ceiling give an old fashioned look. The plain white walls contrast the dark wood and the fireplace takes centre stage.

Kitchen

Vintage floor tiles adorn the kitchen which has a “center island” with a raised snack bar and jet black countertops. This room manages to retain the look and feel of an old style kitchen while having the most up-to-date utensils. A perfect example of interior design and its best!

Dining room

You would expect a luxurious dining room where the rich and famous and figureheads from the world of music can enjoy their meals in peace – you would not be disappointed! A long wooden table with modern cream chairs overlooks the swimming pool which is accessible by three large glass arch shaped doors.

Master bedroom

The master bedroom has a modern cream inbuilt fireplace with a riproaring fire and a traditional wooden beamed ceiling. The view from this particular room is outstanding, looking right over the garden with an array of areas in which to relax and put your feet up. Spacious, airy with breathtaking views what better way to wake up in the morning?

Conclusion

Dave Stewart has managed to incorporate some of the latest modern day gadgets while retaining the original characteristics of the property. It is spacious, well designed and overlooking a garden which offers breathtaking views. We don’t think he will have any difficulties selling this property!
