Sorry but R$2k is a bit rich for me, plus I really wouldn't want to bet that much on decisions that FIFA make as they don't seem logical half the time anyway :).

Today was the day to name the cities for 2014 they have now changed the date to May. Im told from my source that Fifa dont think that Brazil has 12 cities that could host the games and will now change this to 10 again . Guess we have to wait and see in May disapointing.

My list has now changed

Manaus
Fortaleza
Recife
Salvador
SP
Rio
Brasilia
B. Hori
Curitiba
Port Aleg

If political clout plays a part in who gets chosen then I would still have Natal in the list.

The 10 cites listed are the cities with the clout and pay most taxes into the coffers to Lula and his chums in Brasilia.

Fifa will tell us in may lets see ,,onother option they are thinking about is north south devide all the pre games in the north east and the nock out stages in the south im told this is an option in this case Natal would be in . They keep changing so its hard know for sure. Things did not help the month fifa visited Brazil SP were playing Corinthans at the ground fifa were thinkg to hold the final well it was like a war blood all over the place not a nice at all. This could be why fifia are thinking about the north south divide keep the risk to minimum.

Hmm somone read the post wrong... We're being quoted as the sources confirming that Natal has definately been chosen as one of the host cities...
I just saw a presentation from a marketing agent quoting the article that quoted us incorrectly.

I was at a cocktail party last night with the British Ambassador to Brazil, and he and his staff were quoting Recife as a certainty and were 'very confident' of Natal.

Has anyone confirmed this or has a Link to verify the source of this info?

Apparently not even Natal City Hall knows about this change of announcement date and they are preparing a party for announcement of the Brazilian cities which will host the World Cup 2014.
The party will be held this Sunday, 11 a.m. at Ponta Negra Beach.

This is direct from FIFA site and there is no mention of a postponing to Jul/Aug.

2014 FIFA World Cup Host City designation on the agenda

The FIFA Executive Committee, chaired by President Joseph S. Blatter, will convene in Nassau (Bahamas) on Saturday and Sunday, 30-31 May 2009, for its second meeting of the year. The agenda features a wide range of topics, including the designation of the 12 Host Cities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, the preparations for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa and - of course - the preparations for the 59th FIFA Congress.

The announcement of the 12 Brazilian cities which will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ will be made shortly after the end of the meeting on 31 May.

With only two weeks to go before the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, the FIFA executive will be given an update on the current status of preparations for this major international football event, as well as for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

Other topics on the committee's agenda include:
- an update on the agenda of the FIFA Congress that will take place in Nassau on 2-3 June
- a report on the inspection tour and preparations for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009
- updates on the preparations for other upcoming FIFA competitions in 2009 and 2010
- a review of pending cases related to member associations.

Finally, the executive will receive reports on the various committee meetings that have taken place since the last FIFA Executive Committee meeting held in Zurich in March 2009.

It looks as though Natal might just be one of the chosen cities!
As pretty as the project is it will not detract from the poor infrastructure of the roads and major complications the Prefeitura de Natal will have working out how to implant the correct infrastructure to effectively reduce traffic problems getting to matches and training 1,000's of police to do a good job to keep citizens safe from drunken violence and an increase in assaults. The positives are an increase in jobs, something for residents to look forward to,even though they'll need to wait 5 yrs and more property sales and rentals.............!!
