Will the UK government regret targeting private landlords?

It seems obvious that the UK government would prefer large conglomerates to run the UK private rental industry. However, if this was to happen then large conglomerates will eventually have a significant influence on the government and future policies – due to their growing size and stature. Should the UK government be careful what they wish for?

The government has shown its hand already - they are looking to crush private landlords and bring in a smaller number of large leading businesses whom they can communicate with and work with. Cruel, but this is the way it is looking in the UK.

The UK government seems to be looking to commercialise the rental market - taking out private landlords by favouring large companies. Is it fair? No! Will shouting about it make a difference? No!

Isnt it funny how the government was no where near as aggressive when private landlords were picking up the slack before the sector was more heavily commercialised?

I agree - the UK government were happy for private landlords to take all of the risk when they were struggling with no social housing/housing association stock but now this is changing they seem happy to throw private landlords to the wolves. Shocking!
