At this moment in time many investors are sitting on the sidelines watching the Scottish independence situation develop. On one hand we have UK government adamant that the 2014 independence referendum was a “once-in-a-lifetime” event while the Scottish government is using the recent Brexit vote as a potential reason to call another independence referendum. There is a growing opinion that any dip in Scottish property prices could yield a very lucrative long-term buying opportunity. At this moment the likelihood is that Scotland will remain in the UK but even if it does go independent then eventually it will join the European Union. So, either way there will be continued financial support for Scotland in the longer term. This in itself will attract businesses, help the employment market and ultimately filter down into demand for property.

The more talk of yet another independence referendum in Scotland the more uncertainty for the business community. Let's be honest, would you be willing to invest heavily in a country looking to break away from its largest trading partner and unable to say with any certainty what currency it would use?
