Personally I think 2018 could be a good year for long term investors willing to bide their time and wait for the right moment. We could potentially see large swings in UK property prices as panic buyers and sellers react to the ever fluid situation which is Brexit. Will Brexit be as bad as many predict? Well, when you consider some experts are predicting it will be the end of the world, no, maybe the worst is already factored into the value of sterling and the UK property market?

For me, the key to long-term property investment success is an ability to look beyond the short to medium term issues and instead appreciate the long-term value. Even if we put capital appreciation aside for one moment, a near double-digit rental yield will allow investors to pay down their debts relatively quickly releasing more equity for similar types of investment. Capital appreciation should be seen as a bonus and rental income your backbone.
