Hey,
I am applying for a fellowship that would allow me to spend a month or two in Amsterdam amongst other foreign cities. I was wondering if anyone has any tips/estimates on housing for such duration.

Also, could anyone supply me with an estimate on how much food and general living expenses might be?

Thanks,

Hi Malachi,
I am sorry that I cannot really give you a lot of information on housing esp. in Amsterdam as we own our own home and not in Amsterdam.
As for living expenses, your grocery expenses will not be any more and maybe somewhat less than in the U.S. But...everything else will be more. I don't know if you will be using a car (probably not because it?s not needed in Amsterdam) but gasoline is very expensive here. Depending on the size of your apt. the utilities won't be real expensive, not any more than they are in the U.S. for the same size place. It just all depends on what you plan to do here. Dining out is much more expensive, so it just all depends on what you want to do while you are here.
Keep in touch
