Just at the time when the UK needs to be pulling together we have the likes of the SNP in Scotland trying to negotiate an individual deal for Scotland to stay within the single market. There are number of factors to consider here not least the fact that Scotland is not a member of the European Union, the UK is. The referendum on continued membership of the European Union was UK wide and not specific to different regions of the UK.
In reality the SNP knows it has no chance of negotiating membership of the single market for Scotland when the UK finally leaves. Even if this was remotely possible, there is no way on earth that Spain would let this happen because of the Catalonia issue and the fact that the SNP has been extremely supportive of the Catalonians right to independence. So, we can only assume that Nicola Sturgeon is looking to cause as much confusion and mayhem across the UK as possible. Yet again, playing the martyr!
