Should I look at an eco-friendly house?

In years gone by there was no doubt that eco-friendly houses were very much in "vogue" and attracted enormous interest from those looking to do their bit for the environment. Since the recession of 2008 we have seen a reduction in demand for eco-friendly properties but is it time to look again?

I think that now the economy is beginning to - slowly but surely - recover, focus will be on sustaining the economy and the ecology, so it's definitely worth looking into over the next year or so. Not to mention the savings you make when you're running an eco-friendly house.

I expect savings in the region of 20% or so would be required before we see a big movement back to eco-friendly properties?
