Rio winning the 2016 Olympics is great news for Brazil, the first time the games have gone to South America.

I know the majority on this forum are mainly interested in North and Natal area, this is great news for us that are interested in the South.

There will be a lot of work to do, with building new stadia etc and there is lots of discussions about London's Olympic building program and costs for the 2012 Olympics. This will cost a lot of money to host and on the negative side will the cost actually bring long term returns to Brazil

This shows that Brazil is at last being taken seriously as a major player in the world and long may it continue.

Rio 2016

More good news for Brazil. Between the World Cup and Olympics, Brazil will receive unprecedented media attention in the coming years. The accompanying infrastructural improvements will also benefit the Brazilian real estate market.

Olympics 2016 will bring U$ 15 bi direct investments and around US$ 60 bi indirect investments to Brazil.

The investments will come mainly from international investors/banks and the city to benefit from infrastruture projects.

In addition, there are new opportunities in the hotel market since there is a lack of available rooms in Rio de Janeiro. Perhaps, it will be a good idea to invest in a hotel room or flat.

Please find below the official Rio 2016 Bid Video - Candidate City.
