Has anybody ever employed their own Project Manager to oversee works on their development?

Is it even possible to do such a thing as a 3rd party, or do we have to rely on the developers Project Managing their developments?

I know various people have performed 'snagging' but this is performed at the end of the build, so what happens if things go wrong and are 'botched up' during the build?

Any thoughts/advise on this much appreciated :)

The idea is sound, but the cost would be prohibitive on a low cost apartment.

If you are having a large villa built in it's own plot then it might be worthwhile.

The reason that you feel you need to consider using your own PM is interesting.

One option is to use an "experienced eye" rather than a PM, to regul;arly check what's happening on behlaf of a group of owners, but how do to get to know who the other owners are - ah !!! thru this forum maybe - good thinking.

The "experienced eye" could work well, they'd have to be trustworthy, persistent and good at getting things done though. How do you find somebody like this that also either lives local or is a very regular visitor to the area? How would developers react to this person constantly 'turning up'?
