Problems with Rent and Landlord

Hi All,

My friend has a problem with his landlord. He rented 1bed apartment in Marina for 90k. First year everything was fine, but starting second and landlord has gone mad!
1. He was asking 150k, and was asking my friend to leave apartment!!!
2. Now he came down to 110k, but all that he can get legally is 95k
As I know - law is very protective of tenant, so I said to my friend he can't be evicted, and landlord can't ask more than 95k.

But as you know how people are, landlord is making problems, and my friend is considering leaving apartment because of this crazy landlord.

What are my friends options, and how can he easily resolve this issue?
Can he sue landlord for things mentioned above? Present case to Rental Department???

Yes I told him the same

I told him same thing, and he is aware of that one.

Is there a law he can use in discussion with landlord, or any other legall and nice way to say to landlord to back off???

All he has to do is remind the landlord he can only legally increase the rent by 5%.He should tell him also that if he doesnt stop bothering him he will be reported to RERA.

Just check with the rent committee & take their advice, they are usually helpful.
