Hi

I am moving to Egypt on 22 May 2008 and have a rented apartment booked for £70 pm - initially I will be in Sharm El Sheikh

Maybe i'll get a chance to meet some of ya

Can any body advise, as a single man, roughly the cost of living for food and any other expenses that may arise

I also want to find out the following and any help would be greatly appreciated

What is the situation with Medical / Dental treatment?

How could I get a driving licence?

If I am banned in the UK would I be banned in Egypt?

What is the situation re driving a motor bike - same licence? How much to buy one?

How safe is buying off plan - any experiences, recommendations

Where eventually Sharm, Hurghada, Dahab, Marsa Alam ??????

Many many thanks, hope you are all well and maybe get to meet some of you some time, take care

Hi and welcome to the forum. Exciting times ahead for you then - like several other members you're not just purchasing for investment or holidays but starting a whole new life in Egypt.

If you visit the Egyptian Lounge area of the forum you'll find threads covering almost all your practical questions like medical/dental treatment: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egyptian-lounge/6721-health-care-egypt-insurance-opticians-dentistry-hopitals-etc.html

Click on this link for lots of advice about driving, licenses etc http://www.totallyproperty.com/egyptian-lounge/5408-driving-egypt.html

This is brilliant for cost of living etc: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/5213-living-egypt.html

We have dozens of threads covering the different developments and the areas in which you'l find them and £30-£35k would certainly buy you an appartment in Hurghada.

This thread covers Marsa Alam: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/6772-marsa-alam.html

While this one will show you where many others have bought and why: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/6928-where-have-you-bought-egypt-why.html

A couple of threads cover Sharm: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/5219-sierra-resort-nabq-pictures-info-updates.html

and, http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/6851-has-anyone-bought-sharm-thinking-buying-sharm.html

We also have a 'resident' lawyer who has a very informative thread here: http://www.totallyproperty.com/egypt-property/6847-legal-procedures-purchase-property-egypt.html. His English is fluent and he comes highly recommended by several of the forum members.

I think that the majority of members have bought off plan so you'll find loads of info on that throughout the pages of the forum. Have a look through and if you've any other questions feel free to ask.

I'm moving one of your threads to the Introductions page as it will be read by almost everyone here so you should get lots of replies. I'll leave this one until you've had time to read it through yourself then I'll delete it and the third as they've already been covered elsewhere. I would have written all this to you in a Personal Message but thats not available to you yet. When you've made around 5 posts and are a regular contributor to the forum - and I certainly hope you will be :) - you will be able to use this service.

Anyway, it's great to see you on the forum and I hope that you'll find it as helpful as I have. It was because of the information here, that we decided to buy in Egypt and to chose the development that we did:).
