Mortgage renegotiations

Has anyone successfully managed to re-negotiate their mortgage arrangements with the current climate in mind? I'm particularly referring to off-plan property.

Also anyone actaully managed to free themselves of the burden of owning the properrty without selling it, ie leaving the property to ownership of bank following settlement agreement?

On my side, I was finally able to reschedule my installments with the developer. Still, I don't have a mortgage so it helps.
