Back in 2008 Miami had no finished bike lanes and the only one under construction at the time was less than a mile long.
Things have changed dramatically since then, largely due to the work of former Mayor of Miami Manny Diaz, who hired The Cities first bicycling coordinator.
Now the City has gone from being listed as one of the worst in the world to one of the top 50.
At the moment Miami has a little over 13 miles of bike lanes and an additional 16 miles are being designed. The City is also building and off-road bike path along the river by the Downtown Miami condos area.
