Marbella is set to be the first part of Spain to recover from the country's beleaguered real*estate hole with property sales reaching their best level in four years, it is claimed.

The perception by many is that Marbella is the best location in Spain- a bit like England in the Sun or Germany in the Sun etc
it was perhaps the first in the recession and maybe the first out......but still a massive oversupply so it will be circa 2015 before any real activity for the general market

The very top end is different and subject to different economic forces

Marbella is unique without a doubt. With its pros and cons.

As for oversupply that appears to be the same issue in most places around Spain.

Apples are apples and bananas...

I suppose the reality is what do you actually call Marbella, ie Marbella town or Marbella, Nueva Andalucia and Puerto banus or even greater Marbella that stretches from Cabopino to San Pedro,

You can buy an aparment from anywhere between 100k (Garbage) to 4m Euros (james bond style) and therefore you have such choice.

Marbella Town your really looking at a minimum entry level of €300,000

Marbella is where most people with money want to live in Andalucia

A Mayor? Yeah sureh

Sorry but...

I don't buy this. Whenever I talk to estate agents in Marbella reality seems to teach a remarkable different lesson: They all complain about the market still being in a slump. Does anyone have excat figueres about what nationalties did actually buy property in Marbella and at what average price - that would be rather usefull.

In Addition: A "Marbella mayor" is not a credible source to start with. The last three ended up in prison, if you remember.
