Hi everyone!

I have noticed that the majority of the messages in this forum are all about moving to Dubai, so I'm going to balance it out a bit by asking a question about leaving Dubai.

My partner and I came out here about 6 months ago and although it is an amazing city it's not quite what either of us came to expect. We are considering our options and thinking about moving back to the UK earlier than we originally planned.

HOWEVER, we have just realized that as we haven't stayed here for a full UK tax year we are liable to pay back any tax that we would have earn in the UK!!! Is this true? Do we have to stay here until end of April 2007 in order to escape paying any money back?

Thanks guys!

Check out the financial advice columnist in the 7day paper as he has answered this question before - from memory the deal is you have to be out of the uK for an entire financial year (i.e. not calendar year) to not risk having to pay tax when you go back.
Thanks
joe
