How will the UK EU referendum impact Spanish property prices?

Spain has long been a favourite with UK property investors and those looking to retire to a warmer climate. So, how will UK expats be treated when the UK eventually exits the European Union? How might this impact the Spanish property market in the longer term?

If the EU/UK are unable to come to some kind of arrangement covering existing expats in the EU and the UK then the Spanish property market may struggle. While there may be long-term potential I will be staying out of this market some time to come. The expected volatility in the short to medium term will, in my opinion, create better long term investment opportunities elsewhere.

Don't forget the short term hit the pensions would have taken this week (longer term tbd) so retirees will have less funds and income to support a foreign Euro currency purchase (double whammy, pound low and pensions hit). I suspect this will be a short term issue and it will bounce back quickly and actually now might be the perfect time to buy!

Do the opposite of what the mass market is doing...

Is this the time for a contrarian investment strategy?
