How will Brexit impact the Spanish property market?

While all eyes are on the UK property market, what about the impact of Brexit on the Spanish property market? There are an awful lot of expats with significant funds invested in Spanish property. Will there be tariffs in the future? Will they be allowed to buy?

My guess, expat areas lose value, funds as people move out. Other areas gain value, esp near Madrid as companies and workers move post-brexit.

If we throw the struggling Spanish economy and Catalan problem into the mix - tricky times ahead for Spain?

People seem to be focusing more on the exchange rate and Brexit which are not working in favour of UK investors looking at overseas property at the moment. There are new entrants to the Spanish property market, will they take up the slack caused by UK investors retreating? Who knows....

Brexit may well bring complications but it should not spark a terminal decline in the popularity of Spain as the leading destination for British expats in Europe.

Hi Chris,

I see what you are saying but UK investors are currently 20% worse off from the recent decline in sterling against the Euro - surely that must have some kind of impact?
