help needed on renting property in the uk?

i currently live in japan i am from the uk,i have been in japan 2 years. before this i lived with my parents...

we are moving to the uk in 4 weeks time,we cant get references from our current landlord and they also dont speak or write in english.

how can we rent a property in the uk?? i will have a job but starting after we want to move into property..

i noticed most contracts are 6 months,if we paid the full 6 months rent and deposit,would a estate agent accept this???

we are moving to weston super mare..

any info please?? or has anyone come across this before thanks
