Hi there,

Interesting news about that Turkey has seen a 40% rise in foreign investment in 2010:

So how come Turkey is a popular choice? Do you think investors are right to choose Turkey or does the country have problems no one’s mentioning?

Look forward to hearing the responses!

Peter

Currently more than 85,000 foreigners own a property in Turkey and the largest group of purchasers are British.
Where did you read about the 40% increase in 2010? The Turkish government statistics does not show such a dramatic increase.

Pure Fx.
Are you talking about FDI (foreign direct investment) by companies or investment into property by foreign persons or companies?
If the former, FDI has decreased significantly in the last few years, from a high of 22 billion US$ in 2006 to 9 billion US$ in 2010.
The number of foreign companies with capital in Turkey is currently around 25,000.

If the latter, foreign property ownership increased by around 40% from 2008 to 2010.
The are currently around 105,000 foreign nationals that own property in Turkey.

Pure FX,

Also have a look at a recent report from Global Property Guide entitled ' Turkey - Europe's Best Residential Property Investment'?

Apologies for back to back posts.
