I am always happy to invest long-term in property assets because in the future governments will need to maintain a shortfall on new build housing in order to maintain forward momentum on property prices. Let's not forget, the purchase of a home will be the largest single investment for many people in the UK. Why would the UK government want to reduce the value of this asset? How would this impact their share of the electoral vote at the next general election?

Many governments seem to talk the talk but fail to walk the walk. However, why would you want to hold back the value of assets which are held by the vast majority of the electorate and will likely be the largest investment in their lifetime? Is that not political suicide?
