The UK authorities, via the Bank of England, base rates and regulations, have a number of ways to exert some control over the UK property market. However, do you trust the UK government to manage the UK property market?

Affordability of housing in the UK reflects the ability to rent or buy a property. Housing tenure in the UK has the following main types: Owner-occupied; Private Rented Sector (PRS); and Social Rented Sector (SRS). The affordability of housing in the UK varies widely on a regional basis – house prices and rents will differ as a result of market factors such as the state of the local economy, transport links and the supply of housing.

If you look back in history you will see how governments have reduced interest rates to “assist investors” as we near general elections. Do not automatically assume that governments of the day are beyond reproach, they will do what it takes to get back into office.
