Deposit for Renting 1 Bed in International City

I am looking to buy a 1 Bedroom Apartment in the International City but its going to take me a little longer than originally thought to make the purchase.I am thinking of renting an Apartment for 6 months if possible until I have bought my own apartment. I have been asked for a 15,000 AED Deposit,this seems a bit high,is this the correct amount?

5 % is the common rate in dubai but if you take a furnished one it can be higher.
You have to make sure that it is refundable. There is alot of monkey business going on in IC so be aware of greedy landlords and agents who try to act illegal
