While the chances of the European Union breaking up are low, even if the UK decides to leave, there is no doubt that voters across Europe are becoming more concerned about the actions of the European Union which is on the whole unelected. Could others follow the UK? Very likely. Would this impact the European property market? Time will tell…

London has been a leading financial centre for many years although unfortunately the European Union seems determined to erode this competitive advantage which London has built up. Therefore, perhaps leaving the European Union will allow London to continue its domination of worldwide financial markets?

Whether the European Union breaks up in light of the UK referendum or remains intact in the longer term there will always be demand for property. We are talking about a combined market of 500 million people so whether government’s retake control of their own destinies or join the European Union project lock stock and barrel, do not be afraid to invest in the European property market - but have a long term time scale in mind!
