Is there a business idea here, acquiring religious buildings, leasing them back to the church and then redeveloping them when they are no longer required?

These buildings are for sale because they are no longer needed by the church. Not a lot of point in buying them to lease back to the church. However they are great for redeveloping.

It is too late for this property but there are thousands of other religious buildings up and down the UK which are required in the short term but will be empty in the long term. Buy and lease back to church and then redevelop?
