It is good to look back on property market trends but these do not necessarily show what will happen in the future. Some trends do repeat themselves but they may be less volatile, more volatile, longer or shorter than they have been in the past. However, there is nothing wrong in doing your research and making yourself aware of how markets can and have reacted in the past.

Trends do repeat themselves in general but nothing is ever exactly the same even if the circumstances are very similar. For those starting out in the world of property investment a look back at how markets react in certain situations will give an insight into how the markets work.

Research, review, take notice but do not automatically assume that trends will be repeated like-for-like. The one variable which we are unable to control in any trend is investor sentiment/confidence.
