Armchair Investing

Has anyone had any experience of Armchair Investing, where they have been asked for £50,000 inadvance, all experiences appreciated good, bad, and ugly. South of England in particular.

If someone wants £50k up front that should be sufficient warning to walk away. That's not armchair investing - that's throwing money away.

If you want to invest £50k. for long term growth, with minimal involvement, you will have to do SOME work yourself.

For example, consider buying a couple of small terrace houses in the NW or NE to let out via an agent; alternatively put it into a selection of investment trusts covering different sectors and reinvest the dividends. The curent economic turmoil and falling stockmarket indices are throwing up interesting opportunities for anyone looking at long term investment, as opposed to speculation.
