For Years, This construction site on 17th. Street and Collins Avenue Has kept many locals wondering if the old Ritz Hotel will ever be completed and open again to the public. Well, that day has finally arrived.
Bought by Iranian-born, Los Angeles based entrepreneur Sam Nazarian and Featuring a brand new name, The SLS Hotel will officially open it’s doors for business this Thursday June 07 of 2012.These comes as great news to the community at a time when more hotel rooms are needed to meet the ever increasing demand of visitors that Miami Beach has been experiencing for the past few years.
During the Miami Beach condo boom in the early to mid 2000′s many developers capitalized on the popular and lucrative Miami condo hotel model, thus putting thousands of rooms unavailable to the public to be used as private residences.
The cost of the project including purchase and renovations came up to $85 Million, and it features 140 rooms, 2 gourmet restaurants and 2 pools.
Rooms are fairly small and are not cheap, rates start a $375 per night.
