I'd favour Bulgaria over Turkey for property!

Student accomodation is notoriously bad quality, find a good site and good devleloper and managing agent.

It is not a good time to be a landlord at the moment, especially for commercial property with the recession still playing a factor in shop closures etc.

If you are referring to getting a mortgage, international mortgages are quite hard to get.

I would say debt should always be paid off first and be top priority before anything else is considered.

However there was a slump in mortgage accpetance and house buying in December 2010 to January 2011.
