Here in El Gouna we have a maintenance department to call for repairs, etc. and a new projects department for major works like stairs, doors, etc. We can also use companies within El Gouna who build kitchens, etc. It is very hard for outside workers to even get through the gates of El Gouna...
Below is a Google Earth view of Makadi and Sharm El Naga. You take the Safaga Highway and do a U turn for the Soma Bay exit. This is a tiny road and then look out for the rough track on the left side for Sharm El Naga.
Sharm El Naga
A group of ten of us drove down from El Gouna to Sharm El Naga today to check out the beach and snorkelling. I guess it is a 20-25 minute drive from Blue Sea Bay. The snorkelling is good both to the left and right and the beauty is the sea bed drops off to 40m for divers...
Thanks Chris. A friend of mine here who is French has brought 11 properties in Makadi! I think his aim is to sell them all on at a profit. He went down there last on 3rd June and was very pleased. Our El Gouna residents diving club will be going to Sharm El Naga on Monday 20th for a day...
Yes I'm amazed at how quickly everything has changed. It had to with so many Europeans buying property in the area. At this rate even the electrician coming round to install the appliances will have a plug on the end of the wire of his drill ;-)
Even going back to when I first moved here in 2003/4 it was nearly impossible to find an electric oven around Hurghada. Everyone in Egypt cooked on gas using a gas bottle. Times have changed considerably since then and shops everywhere have opened up for European styles. :eating:
Well let's hope the banks are only interested in the 17 hotels, universities, hospital, schools, airport, shops and offices in El Gouna before they start on my little apartment!
Any comments?!?

There are many foreign boat owners in El Gouna. Since the revolution the authorities are very strict with all the paperwork and many boats from both Egyptian and foreign owners have been unable to leave the marina until they have their up to date paperwork. If you are in Hurghada maybe go to...
Are you in Hurghada? Then maybe one of the departments in El Gouna can help you or put you in touch with the correct people? There is a Customer Service Department in Downtown in the parking area where the shuttle buses depart from opposite Misr Bank. The El Gouna operator is Tel...
There is also a football match on Thursday 24th at our stadium in Bustan near El Gouna airport. El Gouna FC VS. Sint-Truidense Voetbalvereniging FC. Kick off is at 14.30. I would recommend taking the stadium shuttle bus that will depart Downtown at 13.30 and call at the hotels as this will...
They have been coming round since the end of last year. Friends say they have then been advised which tax band but not asked for any money. It would be good if we can get a copy of their official I.D.
Villa owners in El Gouna have either seen the tax inspectors measuring up or have had them call on their villa and measure up saying they will be notified shortly which tax band they fall into.

HEPCA's next supporters night is on Monday 28th February at 8pm in Papas Bar, Hurghada Marina. They took over the waste management from February 10th and will be discussing this. Papas will be offering 25% discount on food and drinks for the meeting.

No idea what is happening at Makadi but life in El Gouna is great but extremely quiet. Construction is continuing here. Shops, bars and restaurants do not have to pay rent at the moment to help everyone cope with hardly any tourists. All the hotels have shut apart from Sheraton...
