Deal Sourcing - Scraping data from rightmove.

Hello all,

I am starting off on a new business adventure in deal sourcing and packaging to investors. My marketing strategy will initially be direct mail to vendor, by speaking to them directly I can negotiate terms. I plan to be sourcing deals from websites such as RightMove and other similar.

Now I know some information is hidden within RightMove and this is why I post this thread.

What should I be looking for when gathering data?
How am I able to scrape data that isn't shown via the website?

Any help would be appreciated as I have searched for hours online and unable to find any teaching on scraping data.

Thank you.

The land registry must have a record of who owns the properties you are interested in?

I'm not sure it's possible to scrape "hidden" data from Rightmove or other property portals as presumably that's confidential information they hold in their internal databases. Obviously hacking is illegal so I know you're not suggesting that!

Perhaps collating the data with Landregistry and other public sources might create a more useful content dataset?

Keen to here if anything comes of your efforts...

If you're not an IT specialist maybe post the job on Elance or Freelancer.net as lots of people on their (techies!) specialise in this kind of this and might be able to give you a steer...

Scraping data is not an issue, it is scraping the right data and being able to reformat it so that it is easy to read. You can find many programmers with the skills to scrap data - in essence this is how search engines work. However, scraping confidential data is a whole different ball game - as Nick said I think its called hacking lol

All this shows perfectly that information is power :)

Why not just do it the “proper way” and subscribe to these websites to get access to their information? However, the Land Registry information is surely public information therefore should be available to everybody? Whether you would need to pay get it in a usable form, i.e. a spreadsheet, is a more pertinent question.

Web scraping services provider that have years of experience in scraping real estate data can help you best. In google search web scraping services provider then contact them, explain your requirement. Definitely you get solution. You can also visit their blogs and websites for guidance.
Another way is to search free rightmove data scraper tool then you will get list of free tool like promptcloud, scrapy, Infovium and more.

Where does this process stand with regards data protection and EU GDPR regulations? Sounds very interesting but probably best to check all angles :)
