Right to Rent reference checks

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum. I manage a portfolio of over 200 tenancies across the South East. The government made reference check for tenants a legal requirement from the 1st of February 2016. I initially thought this would cause me a lot of issues as we have lots of last minute check ins, however in reality this has helped with quality of tenants that I find. Are there any other property managers/landlords out there with any comments on how the right to rent has affected you?

I look forward to hearing from you.

That is certainly very interesting to hear. I would guess that these credit checks as well as increasing the quality of your tenants also improve the reliability of your rental income stream? I suppose if you ever wanted to sell your rental properties the quality of tenant, and reliability of payment, would certainly help you obtain the best price?
