We are thinking of a Woodburning/Multifuel Stove as a secondary heat ? What are your thoughts and can anybody recommend a brand ?

There are so many different stoves you can buy today that you are probably better off visiting a showroom and chatting to the experts. Regulations have also tightened a little over the last few years with only certain types of fuel allowed in certain areas. Do not fall foul of the law as it could be very costly!

On a side note, the atmosphere and the ambience created by a wood-burning stove needs to be experienced before you can fully understand it. Heaven after a long day at work.

While wood-burning stoves do have something of a romantic attraction for many people they are not always as cheap to run as you might expect. It is strongly advisable to do your research on the cost of wood and the stove itself before jumping in.

As most properties in Cyprus do not have central heating wood burning stoves are very popular here. The more expensive models will throw out enough heat to warm the whole house. There isn't much point in getting one of the cheaper ones as they only warm the immediate area around them.

Like most things @Veronica you get what you pay for. Some years ago I was involved in a wood-burning stove business and the number of people expecting to buy high-quality stoves at bottom dollar prices was amazing. Let’s not forget that these products last for many years although there can be a significant difference in durability, quality and running costs between the better quality products and the market entry stoves.
