As we approach the end of 2016, a very difficult year for property markets around the world, it will be interesting to see what members think will be the top five property markets in 2017. Are you looking to increase your exposure in specific markets or will you be increasing your funds on deposit awaiting future buying opportunities?

A very good question!

Is it time to look away from the mainstream towards the likes of Africa? Is it time to start cherry picking some of the bombed out European property markets? Will Donald Trump be the catalyst for a buoyant US real estate market? Or will the UK remain good value going forward?

Personally, I think it may be time to start looking away from the mainstream property markets and planning for the long-term.

Personally I think the UK market, perhaps with the exceptional of London, still offers good value going forward. The negative aspects of Brexit have yet to emerge although there will be volatility and uncertainty once Article 50 is triggered. Selective investment in different areas of the UK will be vital for those looking to maximise their returns.

Could the US real estate market benefit from the incoming rogue president which is Donald Trump?
