As we move towards the opening ceremony for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil what better time to look back on the London Olympics in 2012 and see how property prices have performed. A number of reports in the past have suggested that events such as the football World Cup have limited impact upon property

It does seem as though the London Olympics has kickstarted an array of developments in some of the previously rundown areas of London. Whether this will continue well into the future remains to be seen but it is certainly a good start. Just look at the problems with the Brazil Olympic Games - this puts everything into perspective!

There seems to have been some kind of legacy in the short term but will this last in the long term and make a material difference to those markets which have benefited?
